Custodian - Second Shift - during the school year 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm; and flexible summertime hours from mid-June to late August 6 a.m to 2 p.m.The district offers a competitive benefits package to include employer contribution to health and dental plan premiums; sick, vacation, and holiday pay.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)1. Keeps the building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times.2. Regulates heat and ventilation systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical use of fuel, water and electricity.3. Shovels, plows, and/or sands/salts walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.

4. Checks daily to make sure all exit doors are unlocked in the AM for the start of school and then locked after school ends for the remainder of the day. The main door will remain unlocked for entry. 5.

All panic bolts on doors are maintained in working order.6. Cleans the floors in classrooms either by vacuuming, sweeping or mopping as appropriate. Rooms are cleaned of dust.7. Cleans the corridors after school and/or during the day if condition requires corridors to be cleaned.8.

Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.9. Washes all windows inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary. 10. Keeps the ground free of rubbish.

11. Performs such outdoor maintenance as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like as necessary to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.12. Maintains all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state ofpreservation.13. Reports any repairs in need of attention to the Head Custodian.

Makes minor buildingrepairs as directed by the Head Custodian.14. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair.15. Maintains a regular maintenance schedule on all motors and other mechanicalequipment requiring scheduled maintenance.16. Reports immediately to the building administrator any damage to school property.17.

Remains on the school premises during school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and their attendance is required by the principal.18. Assumes the responsibility for the opening and/or closing of the building each day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.19. Maintains an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand and requisitions such needed replacements from the principal in a timely manner as to not hinder the custodian in their duties.20. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.21.

Uses good discretion when lifting.22. Moves furniture or equipment in buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the administrator.23. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.24. Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the school to insure their safe condition.25.

Has completed the Hazardous management training and labels all containers following the guidelines of the MSDS.26. Reports to the Head Custodian for daily instructions.27. Any other duties as assigned by the building administrator and/or Facility Director.28. Complies with OSHAs standards 29 CFR-1910.QUALIFICATIONS: To successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties list above satisfactorily.
