BASIC PURPOSE: It is the mission of the safety department to empower great managers who care with the resources and education needed to eliminate or mitigate workplace hazards while providing safe locations and experiences for our customers.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide hands on training to assure the highest possible degree of safety for all Love’s employees.
• Identify, evaluate and correct hazardous conditions and behaviors in the workplace.
• Coordinate with management to identify, analyze and lead efforts to solve problems in the assigned area.
• Conduct on-site inspections with upper management to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
• Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of policies and procedures and assist in implementing changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work-place accidents and injuries.
• Lead safety meetings and safety training
• Help to identify gaps in learning and assist in developing learning programs.
• Analyze data; prepare actionable recommendations.
• Other duties assigned as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
High school Diploma or equivalent required

Technical training in truck service preferred

• Experience:

Management experience in the commercial truck service industry preferred

Clean and consistent record of safety

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Skills:

Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office, training or knowledge of occupational health and safety compliance with applicable federal and state regulations/standards, ability to hands on train on health and safety, requires experience in implementation of OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.177, policies, procedures and processes as well as working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, RMA, and TIA), and the ability to use the Internet.

Soft Skills: Excellent oral and verbal communication skills and organizational skills; the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, government regulations, professional journals; the ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists; ability to work independently and to meet deadlines; and keen attention to detail.

• Typical Physical Demands:

Requires prolonged sitting, standing and walking, with some bending, crouching, crawling and climbing

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis

Ability to work in an outdoor environment with varying climates

Requires normal range of hearing and vision

Travel is required
