Capital Projects IT Systems Lead for Project Controls
Albemarle is seeking a Project Controls System Specialist to assist in the oversight and management of the various information systems required across its capital project portfolio. This role will primarily assist project management teams by managing and maintaining support for project controls solutions and systems with high utilization thru licensing, solutions access, setup, information flow, and configuration for software across for the global project management community. Candidate should be knowledgeable in configuration and setup of various project controls systems either on premise, hosted or SaaS environments for scheduling, estimating, cost control, and risk management solutions. The successful candidate would be supporting capital projects in a portfolio that varies from small continuity capital at a site to $2 billion in total installed capital (TIC) Albemarle is on a pace of approximately 2 Billion USD per year of overall capital project spending. Currently, Albemarle works with internal resources to manage the continuity capital and global EPC/CM firms for various concurrent mega-projects (over $500 million TIC) globally in China, Australia, Chile, and the US. Candidate will be an individual contributor who must work in a matrixed environment to assist the global project management community.
Responsibilities
- Assist Director to Manage licensing and utilization for the project controls solutions / software needs of the Albemarle Capital Projects Department.
- Manage user access in both SaaS on-premises and hosted configurations.
- Facilitate a Community of Practice for users of project control software including continuous improvement topics to prioritize and improve project controls data delivery.
- Adjust and configure metadata templates and standardize work breakdown structures for software use and improved standardization across Albemarle project portfolio.
- Establish processes for data validation and construct templates for automated reporting.
- Manage Solutions / software configurations and scheduled upgrades
- Training content for project controls team
- Liaison / interface with Albemarle Corporate IT, Capital Projects and engineering teams
- Travel as need for systems and project needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in relevant capital project related information technology support, training, and vision.
Skills Required
- Computer Proficiencies: Expertise in configuration, technical support, solutions use and training of project control solutions/ such as Primavera P6, Cleopatra, Aspen, @Risk, Crystal Ball, Acumen Fuse, GTS (Cost Management), Power BI, etc.
- Detailed knowledge in SharePoint, Aconex, Adept, & SAP S/4 Hana and SAP PPM is desirable.
- General skills in Microsoft business applications are required.
- Knowledge/Skills: Must be self-motivated and possess good organizational skills. Must be able to work as part of a team. Driven by attention to details, follow high standards for accuracy and completeness. Open to feedback and have a growth mindset.
- Communication Skills: Must have analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Think out of the box about systems data flow improvement.
- Project Management experience, such as Project Manager, Project Engineer, etc. is a plus
- Project Controls Experience, such as Project Controls Management, Project Scheduling, Estimating, or Project Risk Management, is a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Construction Management, or related Capital Project space experience.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
- Master’s Degree in related field is a plus.
